Georges Brassens, born on October 22, 1921, in Sète (Hérault), and died on October 29, 1981, in Saint-Gély-du-Fesc (Hérault), was a French singer-songwriter and poet. Like Léo Ferré, Jacques Brel, and Jean Ferrat, he is considered one of the artisans of a golden age of French chanson. He received the Grand Prix of Poetry from the French Academy in 1967.
