Description from the seller
A pair of blue-and-white porcelain jars with lids, decorated with the character '囍' and interlaced lotus motifs
The main body of the vase presents, as its central motif, a lotus design, whose stems and leaves spread endlessly, symbolizing eternal life and blessed longevity. Among the lotus motifs, four large characters "囍" stand out, traced with the double-line technique, with crisp and energetic strokes and an exquisite composition that conveys an atmosphere of joy and celebration. The combination of interlaced lotuses with the character "囍" expresses the auspicious wish of "happiness after happiness," clearly reflecting the popular aesthetics and the culture of good omens of the era.
This pair of vases retains its original lids and knobs, which is very special. The painting overall is fluid and natural, with a simple, classic style that intensely evokes the era, making them a valuable example of folk porcelain and, at the same time, an elegant and practical piece for the tea ceremony. Placed on the tea table, they add a touch of refined tradition and auspicious symbolism during tea enjoyment.
· Auspicious motif: The combination of the character '囍' and the intertwined lotuses carries a profound meaning, standing out for its clear connection to popular culture and as a wedding gift.
· Practical elegance: In addition to being an antique, it serves as a distinctive ornament on the modern tea table, blending collectible value and utility.
The bodies of the vases and the lids are in overall good condition, although one of the lids has damage that has been repaired.
