A striking Art Deco columnar lamp base in gilt brass with dark patina contrasts, ready to pair with a shade for a library or desk centerpiece.
Description from the seller
A striking and elegant piece of functional art, this lamp base perfectly embodies the sleek, geometric sophistication of the Art Deco era.
Style: Authentic Art Deco (c. 1920s-1940s), characterized by its columnar, stepped, and rectilinear form. The design evokes the classic Neoclassical revival popular in the Deco movement, often referred to as Art Déco Style Colonne.
Columnar Shaft: The central shaft features distinctive fluting (vertical grooves), combining dark patina (black/deep brown) with exposed polished brass ridges, creating a beautiful two-tone, high-contrast effect. * Materials: Constructed from high-quality materials for stability and aesthetic appeal:
Base: Stepped square base with a gilt brass or bronze finish.
Plinth: A square central black plinth (likely painted/patinated metal or ebonized wood/resin) provides a solid visual anchor.
Feet: Supported by four decorative, turned brass bun feet with a knurled (grooved) collar.
Socket: Retains its original or period-appropriate brass lamp holder with a ceramic/porcelain collar.
Dimensions:
Height: 45 cm
Base: 14.5 cm x 14.5 cm
Condition: Described as being in very good condition. The structure is sound, and the finish displays a beautiful, age-appropriate patina on the brass elements, adding character and depth. The black accents are sharp and well-preserved.
Versatility: This base is ready to be paired with a shade of your choice—be it a minimalist drum, a period-appropriate bell shape, or a sleek fabric cone—to complete a stunning piece for a library, executive desk, or living room accent table.
This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a well-preserved piece of early 20th-century design history.
