Masahisa Fukase's Afterword presents epilogue photographs from Sasuke's Diary in a leather bound first edition, offering intimate cat imagery in a compact format.
Description from the seller
"Afterword" is composed of photos used in the epilogue "Sasuke's Diary" of "Sasuke, My Dear Cat," published by Seinen Shokan in 1978. The small, pocket-sized printed manuscript contained instructions and numbering written by Fukase himself. Sasuke the First disappeared fairly early on, but some time later, someone who had seen the "missing" posters gave a kitten to Fukase, thinking it was probably Sasuke. While they did resemble each other, the kitten turned out not to be Sasuke after all. However, Fukase named this kitten Sasuke and ended up loving him as if he were his own. To Harajuku, on express trains, and even to Ueno Zoo and the beach, he took Sasuke with him everywhere he went. Referring to himself as “Dad” while focusing his camera on Sasuke, the depth of Fukase’s affection for his cat can be felt through his photos of the adorable face.
An almost maddening number of charming scenes continue page after page in this wonderful photo book: a masterpiece that belongs on the shelf of a loved one.
Book condition brand new with a phanflet with the English translations
