History of Algiers from the first settlement of the Carthaginians to the latest wars fought there by France's weapons, with an introduction on the different colonization systems that preceded the French conquest: by Leon Galimbert, former director of the British magazine.

Two volumes measuring 25.5x16.5 cm, with 628 and 649 pages, respectively, containing 74 off-text lithographic plates (6 missing and others moved, see index in the photo), all finely watercolor-painted. The text is framed with an ornamental woodcut border, with titles, drop caps, and decorated endpieces in wood. Solid contemporary binding in grained leather with fillets and gold titles on the spine.
Copies in good overall condition as can be seen from the photo; they show some signs of age, a few stains, and blooming, but are still in excellent condition. Inside the cover, both at the beginning and the end of both volumes, there is a stamp.
