Vista Alegre - Hand-Painted Polychrome Lid Jar (Circa 1979)
Magnificent decorative jar with lid from the prestigious Manufatura Vista Alegre, Portugal. A porcelain piece with a fluted (ridged) shape, characterized by a rich and vibrant polychrome decoration inspired by oriental styles (Imari/Kakiemon) painted by hand.
The jar features a stout body and a cut lid with a spherical handle. The design is opulent, displaying motifs of birds, stylized foliage, and flowers, complemented by figures such as the Buda lion (Fu dog) on the lid. The dominant color palette is rich in cobalt blue, rust red, and green, with extensive and fine highlights in high-gloss gold pigment that accentuate contours and panels. The handcrafted execution lends an artistic value and a unique touch to the piece.
