Paris, Vuibert and Nony, 1908. 1 volume in-4. Green percaline, with a historical plaque in black and gold depicting an electric train within a vegetal frame, decorated on the back, with framing and a fleur-de-lis in black on the second cover, all edges gilded.
Fourth edition. Numerous in-text illustrations.
Handwritten date added to the title page.
Contains: what is electricity?, atmospheric electricity, telegraphy, telephony, electric lighting, electric traction, galvanoplasty, electric navigation, phonograph, electric horology, medicine and surgery (X-rays), electricity on the coasts, naval warfare, application to war, agriculture, industry, railways, domestic applications, various applications, dangers of electricity.
This book presents all the applications of electricity with great modernity, even though its nature is not yet understood: 'We cannot yet define this mysterious, unheard-of force, whose vastness escapes all our investigations: we only know it by its effects.' page 1.
