Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
France origin, six early twentieth century linen tea towels with the M initial, in excellent condition and ready to elevate a country or vintage kitchen.
Description from the seller
6 pure linen tea towels ,
of the early 20th C. with two rows of
fine blood red stripes.
These were thé most popular tea towels in France
and the weavers could not get them of the looms quick
enough.
Virtually every French house hold, and those who could afford them,
would have them in their country kitchens.
These who could not would cut up old pure linen sheets and made
their own tea towels, which in fact were just as practical and ideal for
drying glass ware as they absorbed the moist perfect.
In the 20's the tea towels lost their appeal and were put away for
another rainy day when hopefully they became fashionable again.
In the meantime other designs were introduced but never caught on
as their siblings had done and as recent date the original tea towels
have made an enormous resurgence by a new French generation, but
also by their European neighbours over the border.
They look perfect in Country kitchens.
Please note;
These tea towels have never seen the daylight and have rested in the
pantry until recent date.
They will need refreshing.
Vintage linen have already known a first life and can therefore have slight traces of the past.
We select the items in the best possible way, with love and dedication.
Honest descriptions and images gives a real vision of the items.
The linen that we offer for sale is not new linen, unless specifically mentioned, it is second-hand and old linen.
As such it may have already been washed, used or even worn.
In spite of the great care we take during the preparation, small imperfections can and may escape us.
They do not in any way call into question the unique and rare character of these wonderful pieces.
I present you our French Antique linen unwashed, as taken out of the armoire, unless otherwise described . It is all clean, but plan to give it a wash before use.
Please be aware of the above before you bid and buy.
