A set of glass items dating from 1970–1980, made of glass, including two identically designed Spirelli/Twist vases and an emerald green bottle by Zbigniew Horbowy, produced in Poland.
Description from the seller
For sale, I offer a unique set of glassware from the 1970s, representing the most interesting trends of Polish design from that period. The first item is an emerald-colored, crumpled bottle by Zbigniew Horbowy, made at the Huta Szkła Gospodarczego 'Sudety' in Szczytna Śląska. The bottle is 16 cm tall, about 6 cm in diameter at the top, and approximately 9.7 cm wide. Its distinctive, crumpled shape and deep emerald color make it a recognizable example of Horbowy's design. The condition is good, consistent with the photos, with one visible flaw—a small abrasion or possible manufacturing defect, the nature of which I leave to the buyer's judgment. On the glass surface, delicate fibers resulting from cleaning and reflections of the surroundings can be seen, which is natural for vintage items. The second part of the set includes two identical Spirelli vases, also originally known as Twist, designed in the 1970s by Ryszard Serwicki for the Ząbkowice Glassworks. Made of pressed glass in a transparent color, they feature a dynamic, spiral pattern wrapping around the entire surface, perfectly fitting the Mid-Century Modern aesthetic and being one of the icons of Polish design from the PRL era. Each vase is about 23 cm high, 11.5 cm in diameter at the top, and 10 cm at the base. Both pieces are in very good condition, with no cracks, chips, or other mechanical damages. The set will be an excellent addition to a collection, an eye-catching interior decoration, or a gift for enthusiasts of Polish artistic and functional glassware. Please carefully review the photos, which show the actual condition of the items offered. I guarantee careful and secure packaging and encourage you to make a purchase.

Outstanding achievements in the field of functional glass earned Zbigniew Horbowy a place among the most prominent Polish designers of the 20th century. Horbowy is a graduate of Wrocław's PWSSP, a student of Stanisław Dawski. Since completing his studies in 1959, he has been professionally associated with Huta Szkła Gospodarczego 'Sudety' in Szczytna Śląska. There, he began his career and created his most important projects: from subtle, monochrome glass, through austere, simple forms aligned with the 'Wrocław school' movement, to pieces featuring characteristics of unique 'antico' glass objects. He was the initiator of the Artistic Glassworks 'Barbara' in Polanica-Zdrój, where, together with a team of designers he assembled, he produced short series of functional glassware with a more artistic character. The exhibition 'Glass. Art. Design' showcases a wide range of the most well-known and appreciated forms by the designer, including bottles, glasses, semi-functional vessels, and purely decorative shapes in a full spectrum of colors.
In the second half of the 1960s, the first glass designs emerged in the 'Sudets,' which soon became a hallmark of Horbowy. These included various types of bottles, among them the 'Chianti' type with a slender neck, as well as series of bottles made from double-layer glass, colored throughout with a dense suspension of bubbles.
