Biography
Son of the painter and sculptor Tommaso Bisi (Genoa 1758 - Milan 2 December 1826), Giuseppe Bisi, primarily a landscape painter, developed his own style, observing nature simply in its everyday life, despite the era in which the artist lived his artistic youth evoking a more markedly Romantic atmosphere.

In 1829 he made a study trip to Rome which provided him with inspiration for landscape subjects of Lazio.
Returning to Milan, he consolidated his fame and success. In 1838, he obtained the newly established chair of Landscape Painting at the Brera Academy.

Michele's brother, he was married to the artist Ernesta Legnani, whom he married in 1811, with whom he had nine daughters. His daughters Raffaela, Antonietta, and Fulvia, and his grandson Luigi were also painters.
