Paire de Flambeaux style Louis XIV dits "à la Financière" - Candlestick (2) - Bronze

Remarkable pair of candlesticks called 'the financial' in gilded bronze Louis XIV. Inspired by 17th-century goldsmithing, also known as 'square torches.' A square-section shaft decorated with flutes, enriched with motifs featuring the faces of King Louis XIV as a child, and topped with a capital adorned with scallops and acanthus leaves; rests on a wide, richly decorated square base with scrolls and interlaced flowers, and four cherubs; the coronas are topped with a crown and dolphins. The weight, quality of the bronze, and craftsmanship allow us to date this pair to the early 19th century. Excellent condition despite some knocks from repeated use over the past 200 years for all evening activities. See photos. Highly desirable objects for collectors.
