Katana unsigned attributed to Norikatsu of the 2nd generation, circa 1860-1870, in Edo style koshirae. Very light and balanced sword, perfect for Iaido and Tameshigiri practitioners.

Era of blade: Late Edo period (Approximately 1865)
Province: Hitachi

Conditions and polish of the blade: Very good (no blemish, no chip).

Swordsmith
This sword was made in the late Edo to early Meiji period, circa 1860-1870.
Although this sword has no signature, Kazuo Tokuno describes the swordsmith as the second generation Norikatsu (son of Katsumura Norikatsu).
The swords made by the Katsumura group are called Mito-to.
First-generation Katsumura Norikatsu died in 1872 at the age of 64.
Kazuo Tokuno was one of the most famous sword connoisseurs in Japan and published many sword books.


Koshirae
High-quality Edo-style koshirae (probably 1970s).
I black lacquered with sharkskin finish near Koiguchi; copper gilded with silver foil Habaki; mokko-shaped iron tsuba carved with flowers and gold edges; gold dragon menuki and Fuchi/Kashira with gold Shishi.
