Kingsborough published the first volume of Antiquities of Mexico in 1831; in 1837, he was imprisoned where he died of typhus, and the last two volumes of Antiquities of Mexico were published by his heirs. Subsequently, the set of facsimile documents was called Códice Kingsborough. It includes facsimile editions of the following codices, which, as explained, were made from transparencies taken from the originals.
