Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece titled 'Departure for the ball.' A fine publication with careful typography, printed on well-white vellum paper. A small manual of civility and elegance, offering a true code of self-care and dressing, reflecting the concerns of fashionable dressing at the beginning of the 19th century. The work methodically addresses body care, beauty, clothing, and good manners. A representative work of a literary fashion marking the end of the Restoration, dealing in particular with the myriad forms of deception and ways to counter them. Contemporary calf binding, gilt with rich decoration of lines, roulettes, and central plates on the covers pressed in gold and blind, marbled edges.
