Description from the seller
The ultimate female symbol... the mother.
The focus in this photo is on protection, safety, and unconditional love, expressed symbolically.
Mariska's work is printed on 300g baryta Hahnemühle art paper. Delivered with an authenticity certificate, signed and numbered.
Mariska was born in Suriname, South America. Of Surinamese, Indonesian, African, and a bit of Dutch descent, she grew up in the Netherlands. Raised in the beautiful Vermeer city - Delft, living in Rembrandtland, the Netherlands, she came into contact with Venice for a project for a perfume brand and was deeply touched by the baroque art, architecture, and history of Venice. All these influences in her life inspired her. Mariska began to incorporate these inspirations into her own work, drawing from her life and existence.
Mariska spends a lot of time carefully assembling her sets, which also encompass her other talents. She sketches with charcoal, works with gold, textiles, and is an excellent photo manipulator. All her talents come together in every piece of work she creates.
