A copy of the Raudat uli al-albab fi ma'rifat al-tawarikh wa'l ansab, a work of history and genealogy, commissioned for Jabbar Khan, copied by Abdullah Khakawani. The title translates to "The Garden of the Intelligent to Know the Histories and Genealogies". It is a complex work, also known as Majmaʻ al-Ansāb, written by Muḥammad bin ʻAlī Shabānkārahʹī and completed on February 8, 1670 CE, in Bihar. It also connected to the larger histories of Rashid al-Din.
This late 18th/early 19th Century copy (circa AH 1190-1215/AD 1790-1815) of the Persian manuscript consists of 335ff leaves, 15ll to the page written in clear cursive nasta'liq script in black ink. The internal condition is good with minimal repair and little staining/smudging. Significant sentences and historic names picked out in red, catchwords, inner margins ruled in blue and red. One illuminated headpiece in colours and gold, with some minor discolouration. Some worming mostly restricted to upper outer borders,. creased, brown morocco with stamped central medallions of leather onlay, worn, covers detached. 27x17x4cm. Spine in ok condition with all pages attached.
