Frank Shepard Fairey or Shepard Fairey, also known by the pseudonym Obey, is an American street artist, silkscreen artist, muralist, and illustrator.
He created, for the 2008 American presidential campaign, the 'Hope' poster of Barack Obama, which became an iconic image of the campaign. The Boston Institute of Contemporary Art considers him one of the most well-known, best, and most influential street art artists of the moment.
In France, Fairey was first exhibited at La Base, Invader's ephemeral gallery where he presented small portraits of hooded guerrillas, and several times at the Magda Danysz gallery, which supported his work early on. He participated in M.U.R. in May 2007 during a piece with WK interact. One of his poster reconfigurations was displayed at the Fondation Cartier during the exhibition 'Né dans la rue - Graffiti' in autumn 2009. In 2019, he took part in the Grenoble Street Art Fest and was featured in the exhibition 'Facing the Giant: 3 decades of Dissent,' celebrating his 30-year career at the Itinerrance gallery in Paris.
