A bit of history:
Winged horse and divine creature of Greek mythology, Pegasus caused a fountain to gush forth with a kick of its hoof. Named Hippocrene, it is located on Mount Helicon in Greece. The nine muses, daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, goddess of memory, came there to quench their thirst. Pierre Marie's narrative flair is explained by his line and composition. His drawing is an allegory of the eruption of an idea and tells this marvelous story. It features a Pegasus with radiant wings, muses dancing in a chain in a joyful and fantastic setting, as earthly as it is comical.
According to the Arfon Editions square art dictionary, it is considered rare and sought after (last photo).
