Signed Japanese Ebinata / Hooked Forestry Axe / Hand-Forged Blade / Collectible / Mid-Showa Period
This is a traditional Japanese forestry and woodworking tool called Ebinata.
It features a distinctive hook-shaped tip, which was used for pulling and cutting branches, peeling bark, and dragging cut material safely and efficiently.
The blade bears a blacksmith’s signature stamp and the number “420”.
Visible hammer marks, forging patterns, and natural aging patina remain, showcasing the craftsmanship of Japanese blacksmith work during the mid-Showa period.
⸻
Important Notes
・The wooden handle is not original; it was replaced later
・The ferrule (collar) is missing and the blade is temporarily fixed with nails
・Heavy use is dangerous and the blade may detach
・Light firewood splitting test performed, but not fully sharpened
・Please consider it for collection / display purposes rather than practical use
(Please check the photos for details)
