Description from the seller

Oreste Pizio Torino 1879 - Nole (TO) 1938 Interior with figure dated 1919. Dimensions with frame cm 55x46.

Oreste Pizio

Turin, 1879; there, 1938

A singular and very rare painter and miniaturist to encounter, after completing his studies at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti in Turin under the guidance of Giacomo Grosso, he continued his training in Paris with Eugène Carrière. His debut was at the Turin Exhibition of Decorative Arts in 1902, showcasing a vocation for symbolism sensitive to the influences of Art Nouveau. Subsequently, he frequently exhibited at the Circolo degli Artisti in Turin and at the Promotrice di Belle Arti in the same city. Reserved, introverted, and secluded in spirit, he produced portraits and female figures of delicate intimacy and excellent pictorial craftsmanship. His paintings are preserved in the Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea of Turin.
