Pair of antique decorative plates with a romantic scene, probably dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, made of hand-painted porcelain and framed in gilded bronze (ormolu) with Rococo Revival-style ornamentation.
The design features typical motifs of rococo: scrolls, acanthus leaves, and highly intricate asymmetrical shapes. In the center, each plaque depicts a genre scene with figures dressed in the eighteenth-century style, portrayed with great detail and soft colors, characteristic of European romantic decoration.
