Description from the seller

Item Description:

This is an exquisite lacquerware small chest featuring masterful raden (mother-of-pearl inlay) craftsmanship.

The piece showcases intricate circular raden techniques, where carefully cut pieces of iridescent mother-of-pearl are meticulously inlaid into the black lacquered surface to create elegant decorative motifs.

The cabinet presents a refined design with double doors on the upper section and a single drawer below.

Its decorative theme includes traditional auspicious motifs such as graceful cranes in flight, weeping willows, pine trees, cherry blossoms, a pavilion, and a full moon — all rendered in luminous mother-of-pearl that catches and reflects light beautifully.

The top panel is adorned with a magnificent phoenix surrounded by flowing clouds, while the base features delicate floral designs that complete the elegant composition.

The craftsmanship demonstrates exceptional precision in raden artistry, with each shell fragment — abalone or other iridescent materials — shaped and placed to maximize light reflection and natural color gradation from white to soft blue and pink tones.

The interior provides practical storage space, ideal for jewelry, accessories, or other cherished items.
The cabinet doors include a working lock and key, adding both security and charm.

Its glossy black lacquer surface serves as a dramatic contrast to the shimmering inlay, emphasizing the ethereal beauty of the design.

This chest represents a refined example of traditional decorative arts, harmoniously blending functionality and aesthetic grace.
