ABOUT THE PAINTING:
Part of the collection Rain at Sea - An Aeolian Tale, a solo exhibition celebrating my studio opening in Lipari Island, Sicily. This body of work presents a series of multilayered abstract landscapes featuring imagery evocative of the local natural realities, suggesting growth, transition, and movement. Created with a multitude of mediums, from acrylics to calligraphy inks, oil paint and sticks, these new paintings exponentially expand my investigation of the relationship between gesture and painting.
About the diptych:
These dynamic works on paper evoke associations with nature shifting subtly between representation and abstraction. The extremely physical compositions reflect the dynamic range of motion and intensity of focus brought to their making. At the same time, these are contemplative and suggestive compositions translating my observations and memories of natural phenomena, such as changes in light, the rushing of the rain on the ocean and movement of the wind, into a language of abstraction that is at once lively and dynamic; deeply personal, yet open to interpretation
