Description from the seller
Very rare edition printed in a small number of copies of this Kafka story, illustrated with 12 original engravings on copper by burin and six wood engravings by the Polish painter and engraver Abram Krol (1919-2001).
Limited edition of 150 copies, on Arches vellum, signed by Abram Krol on the justification. This is number 37.
In leaves, cream cover with flaps illustrated with a wood by A. Krol on the first cover. Under double casing (case + sleeve).
In excellent condition.
Abram Krol, a painter and engraver born in Poland into a Jewish family. In 1944, he settled in Paris. Abram Krol met engraver Joseph Hecht, who introduced him to the art of the burin. He then discovered new techniques, including medal art at the invitation of the Monnaie de Paris and the art of enamel. He has illustrated numerous prestigious texts. Among his sources of inspiration are, on one hand, the Bible, and on the other, the animal kingdom. Since 1997, he has created eight series of engravings. (source: https://krol-abram.fr)
