Box (3) - Bamboo - Burmese betel nut box

A Burmese lacquerware kun-it, or a betel nut box.
These are traditional objects used in Burmese houses to show hospitality by offering visitors ingredients for chewing betel nut.
The dozen are usually made of lacquered woven bamboo.
They often contain different layers or trays to keep the ingredients separate, such as betel nut slices, lime paste, and betel leaves.
The decoration and size of the box could indicate the social status of the owner.
This particular piece features detailed, narrative scenes engraved in the lacquerwork.
