Exceptional event: Contemporary tribute to Picasso in Barbizon
Celebrate a Master’s legacy!
In honor of the fiftieth anniversary of Pablo Picasso's passing, the historic town of Barbizon organized an unprecedented artistic event, inviting 53 renowned contemporary artists to reinterpret the work of the famous Spanish painter.
This exhibition, held from April 8 to June 10, 2023, was a spectacular immersion into the heart of current creation.
A Rich and Diverse Artistic Panorama
Displayed over more than 300 square meters within the Marc Jacquet Cultural Space, the exhibition brought together an impressive array of talents with diverse styles, techniques, and sensitivities.
Traditional visual arts
Photography (artistic and documentary)
Digital Art
Street Art
Unique works, ranging from paintings to digital installations, were showcased in a true ephemeral museum that was free for the public. The experience even extended outdoors, with the installation of monumental sculptures creating a striking dialogue with the location.
The Historical Context: Barbizon and Picasso
The connection between Barbizon and Picasso is deep and genuine. The artist himself stayed multiple times in 1942 at the famous Bouvard family guesthouse, now known as the 'Manoir Saint-Hérem'. This historical anchoring gives the exhibition a unique cultural resonance.
Museum Expertise and Quality
The exceptional quality of this tribute was ensured by a high-level curatorship, entrusted to Jean-Michel Gout-Werner and Jacques Simonin, two recognized professionals in the art market (notably organizers of the exhibition 'L’Angélus a 150 ans' in 2010).
Great care was taken in the professional scenography of the exhibition, in the design of the supports, and in the high-quality photography of the artworks, ensuring impeccable presentation and documentation worthy of the greatest institutions.
