Description from the seller
Toiletry Set, Powder Compact Cases, Italy and France, 1900–1920
Elegant collection of antique powder box cases from Italy and France, dating back to the 1920s. The set represents an interesting selection of Liberty and Art Déco examples, including Italian models such as Valazé (Milan), Paglieri 'Felce Azzurra,' and the refined illustrated boxes 'Contessa Azzurra,' as well as high-quality French models, including a Coty 'Poudre de Couleur Blanche' powder scented with Corsican jasmine and a Parisian box 'Miss Heley – Poudre de Beauté.' The boxes are made from materials typical of the era, such as lithographed cardboard, decorated pressed cardboard, and early plastics like bakelite or celluloid, which are now highly sought after by collectors of vintage cosmetics. The graphics, featuring stylized female portraits, floral motifs, and the clean lines characteristic of Art Déco, reflect the aesthetic evolution of European cosmetic packaging in the early twentieth century. The presence of two French brands adds both historical and collectible value to the lot. Overall, the condition is good considering the age, with normal signs of wear, light abrasions, and minor paper damages, but all elements remain clearly legible and intact.
