José de Pazos, Menina Pop LIMITED EDITION, a 2024 digital print (450×450 mm), edition 4/25, handmade-signed, in excellent condition, produced directly by the artist in Spain.
Description from the seller
This artwork is a celebration of pop culture and a critique of the saturation of consumerism in our current society. By combining iconic elements like Mickey Mouse and the Coca-Cola bottle, I aim to highlight how these images have permeated our lives, transforming into symbols of a globalized world.
The female character at the center, with her flower and designer handbag, represents a fascinating duality: on one hand, the search for authenticity and individuality; on the other, the pressure to fit into a standardized ideal of success and beauty. I want the viewer to reflect on this tension, questioning how brands and icons influence our perception of ourselves.
The message 'Be different. Your time is now' is an invitation to action. In a world where repetition and homogeneity are the norm, I want to encourage people to challenge expectations and find their own voice. Every vibrant color and dynamic figure in this piece serves as a reminder that, although we are surrounded by commercial images and symbols, there is always room for individuality and creativity.
Finally, the artwork seeks to be a mirror that reflects our realities, inviting reflection on our place in this landscape of images. I hope it inspires each viewer to be bold and authentic in their personal expression.
Limited edition, numbered and signed by the artist, consisting of 25 units, created for the artist's exhibition in Madrid.
Includes a certificate of authenticity with the artist's signature and seal.
Born in Cádiz (1976), José de Pazos made his artistic debut at just 17 years old with his first solo exhibition.
His studies in Art, specializing in photography, led him to work as a photojournalist for major national and international agencies.
He is currently fully dedicated to graphic design as the CEO of a printing and graphic design company and to producing artworks that now hang on walls worldwide.
Fascinated by both Pop Art and the Street Art scene, he reflects this in his work by integrating characters, advertising designs, or pop icons with irony, focusing on the excesses and deviations of consumer society. He uses well-known brands and humor to convey his message.
Using overlays of textures with stencils, collages, and mixed techniques with acrylics and sprays on various surfaces, he creates highly recognizable work with a distinct style, showing his passion for textures and layers as a spectator and incorporating that sentiment into his creations.
