Robert Mentor created the airbrush cover painting for Aliens: Colonial Marines, issue 2 (Dark Horse, 1993), titled 'Cover issue 2'.
Description from the seller
The original painting of the cover for the 1993 Dark Horse comic Aliens: Colonial Marines issue 2.
The girl in the cryo chamber is Carmen Vasquez, the younger sister of Jenette Vasquez who played a prominent role in James Cameron’s movie Aliens.
This airbrush painting was created by Robert Mentor, who did some covers for Dark Horse comics such as Aliens, Star Wars, and Sex Warrior in the early 1990s. He then went on to work for Dreamworks Studios and created some covers for fantasy magazines. Not much else is known about him.
I bought this painting in 1993 and have owned it since. Unfortunately, the frame I put it in probably contained some paper fishes that caused some damage to the top edge of the painting. This is shown in the photos. With the right passe-partout, it won’t be visible, though.
The photos of the Aliens comics shown are from the internet to show some of the artist’s work and are not included in the lot.
On the back is written my old old address that the art dealer insisted I wrote on it when I reserved it.
Will be securely packed and shipped.
