Description from the seller
1873 The Moabite Stone/ The Substance of Two Lectures
Such a rare publication!!
The stele itself is regarded as genuine and historical by the vast majority of biblical archaeologists today. The stele has been part of the collection of the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, since 1873. Jordan has been demanding the stone slab's return to its place of origin since 2014.
The Moabite Stone (or Mesha Stele) is a basalt stele from around 840 BCE, famous for its inscription detailing King Mesha of Moab's victories over Israel and his religious devotion to the god Chemosh.
Freemasons see parallels between the stone's themes of construction, rebuilding, and faith and Masonic symbolism, while historical figures like Charles Warren who were involved in the stone's discovery also had ties to Freemasonry. The stone's significance lies in its historical and religious content, which is used symbolically within the philosophy of Freemasonry, not as a direct historical origin.
