Night View of Mt. Fuji from Nihondaira
A magical evening view of Mt. Fuji as seen from the Nihondaira plateau, a scenic area that offers spectacular vistas. The harbor is illuminated with twinkling yellow lights from the homes and boats on the water. The sweeping curve of the bay guides the eye toward the sacred mountain, with its snow-covered peak still visible against the gray night sky.
Koichi Okada was born in 1907 in Tokyo, studied with Ishii Hakutei and Arishima Ikuma, and was a member of the art group Issuikai. Okada is known for his beautifully detailed woodblock prints depicting Mt. Fuji and is considered a true Shin-Hanga master.
First edition around 1950. This is a later edition, printed using original woodblocks by the original publisher.
