Two Mettlach by Villeroy & Boch ceramic vases from 1909 and 1913 in excellent condition, deep matte blue with gold speckles and turquoise and red orange accents, a bulbous form with slender necks.
Description from the seller
Rare pair of decorative Mettlach vases by Villeroy & Boch, made in 1909 and 1913. Both pieces originate from the renowned Mettlach art ceramics production and showcase the typical high craftsmanship quality for which the manufactory is internationally celebrated. The vases impress with their deep, matte shimmering blue, accented with fine gold dots and ornamental borders. Turquoise and red-orange details add additional color accents and give the pieces an elegant, almost oriental aesthetic.
The bulbous shape with a slender neck emphasizes the decorative character and makes the pair appear harmonious both individually and together. On the underside, the clearly recognizable Mettlach marks with the Turmlogo, form number 2859, and the stamped year codes 09 and 13 are present, dating the production and clearly confirming the authenticity of the vases.
An enchanting duo for collectors of historic Mettlach ceramics, enthusiasts of high-quality Art Nouveau and Art Deco décors, or as a distinctive eye-catcher in an upscale setting. Such pairs, in well-preserved painting and from two early production years, are now rarely found and are highly valued.
The vases have no chips or cracks.
The goods are wrapped in padding foil and enclosed in bio-styrofoam within a double-walled carton for shipment via DHL.
