Oskar Larsen (* July 8, 1882, in Vienna; † September 12, 1972, in the same place) was an Austrian history and genre painter as well as a graphic artist.
Larsen was born as the son of the Danish painter Carl Christian Larsen. From 1897 to 1901, he attended the Graphic Teaching and Testing Institute in Vienna under Viktor Jasper and Joseph Eugen Hörwarter. He further completed his training at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under Alois Delug until 1909.
From 1906 to 1909, he worked together with Hubert Lanzinger and Alfred Buchta on cartons for a series of 14 intarsia pieces intended for the town hall in Bolzano. During World War I, Larsen was active as a war painter. From 1932 to 1942, he resided in Germany.
Works with biblical and mythological references were Larsen's preferred pieces. Due to their rich imagination and distinctive use of color, they earned him the reputation of a painter poet during his lifetime. His paintings 'Rape of the Sabine Women' and 'Land of Cockaigne' are preserved in the Vienna Museum.
Oskar Larsen was buried in an honorary grave at the Vienna Central Cemetery (Group 40, No. 3) on September 20, 1972.
