Very beautiful copy of Racinet's Historical Costume, well complete with the 6 in-quarto square volumes.
Estimated work for the remarkable iconography consisting of 500 plates, including 300 in color, gold and silver, and 200 in monochrome.
Decorative bindings from the period executed in half red morocco, with a spine featuring raised bands, decorated with gold tools, and gilded head.
Condition: In excellent condition, rare scuffs on the headbands of volume 1 and on some spines and edges. Interior pages are fresh and clean. Very beautiful plates without foxing.
A monumental enterprise lasting 12 years, 'The Historical Costume' represents the most comprehensive study ever published on the history of clothing, fashion, and style from the ancient world to the 19th century.
