Gómez de Segura Mitxarro, 2021, Rioja, 0.75 L bottles, 3 bottles.
Description from the seller
D.O. Ca. Rioja, sub-region: Rioja Alavesa
CLIMATOLOGY
Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influence, with a marked difference between summer and winter. Rainfall: 400 liters.
WINEMAKING
Harvested by hand in 15-kg boxes. The grapes are destemmed and placed in stainless steel tanks for approximately 10 days after the completion of alcoholic fermentation. This achieves greater color extraction and more complex and tannic wines, optimal for long aging. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels and the wine is aged in new, extra-fine-grain French oak barrels for 14 months. Aging is completed in the bottle.
TASTING NOTES
Characteristic reddish color, similar to cherry, and very bright. Its intense and complex aroma, derived from its excellent aging, is reminiscent of spices and berries. On the palate, fruity nuances are appreciated with an elegant, flavorful, and lingering finish typical of a great wine.
PAIRING
A wine with great personality to pair with meats in sauce or stewed, sirloin, T-bone steak, fish such as cod, salmon, or tuna, and strong cheeses such as Idiazábal, Cabrales, or Manchego.
HISTORY
One afternoon in 2009, as the last rays of sunlight embraced the ripe grapes in the vineyard, Ana and Jose Antonio Gómez de Segura decided to make this very special wine, given the unique character of these grapes compared to others.
SERVING TEMPERATURE
16–18°C
