Description from the seller
Hugo V. Pedersen (1870–1959)
Winter landscape
Technique: oil on canvas
Dimensions: 78 × 58 cm (with frame), 68 × 48 cm (without frame)
Time of origin: probably early to middle 20th century.
Signature: signed bottom right 'H. V. Pedersen'.
Description
The painting depicts a tranquil, atmospheric winter landscape with a snow-covered farmstead. Several farmhouses with partly weathered roofs are nestled within a gentle, bright layer of snow. The subdued, slightly gray-blue winter light creates a quiet, almost poetic calm. A single tree, along with scattered tools and stones, subtly enliven the scene and give it a natural, authentic character.
The loosely executed yet secure painting style, the harmonious tonality, and the structure of the composition are typical of Pedersen's landscape depictions. The treatment of the winter light, softly falling over buildings and ground, is particularly impressive.
artistic classification
Hugo V. Pedersen was a Danish painter from the early to mid-20th century, known especially for atmospheric landscapes, rural scenes, and depictions of nature. His works are characterized by a balanced use of color, atmospheric lighting, and a nature-connected, realistic approach. Pedersen often worked in calm, muted tones, which give his paintings a special mood of serenity and simplicity.
His landscape paintings, especially winter and autumn scenes, show an intimate observation of nature and are now among the sought-after motifs of his oeuvre. The artist's works can be found in various private collections and in the Scandinavian art trade.
state
The painting is in good, well-maintained condition. The surface appears stable and fresh in color. The older gold-colored frame matches stylistically and shows only minor signs of age-related wear. Overall, the work presents itself attractively and is ready to hang.

Shipping is carried out insured, quickly, and carefully packed by a professional shipping service. The frame is included free of charge and is part of the delivery, but it does not constitute part of the artwork offered in a legal sense.
