Description from the seller
Caridad del Cobre
In this work, I approach the sacred figure from abstraction, seeking to transform traditional iconography into a geometric and contemporary language. I do not intend to represent the Virgin literally, but rather to evoke her spiritual presence through a network of planes, lights, and chromatic tensions. This work arises from the desire to reinterpret the devotional from a cubist sensibility, where faith becomes structure and the image fragments to reveal new layers of meaning.
While working, I am interested in how shapes can suggest gestures, how an insinuated eye or a broken silhouette can contain a protective, almost maternal energy. The central figure is built like a luminous totem emerging among warm and cool colors: the gold that envelops, the red that beats, the blue that calms. Everything coexists in balance, as if each fragment were a visual sentence. I am drawn to the idea that the divine is not in perfection, but in multiplicity; in all that decomposes and yet continues to be one.
In this work, the Virgin becomes a symbol of inner refuge, a space where the spiritual merges with the human. Through lines and layers of color, I let the piece breathe with a certain solemnity, but also with freedom. It is a tribute to Charity as a force that sustains, guides, and accompanies.
