Description from the seller
Considering the perfections of the Creator in His creatures, for the glorification of God and to promote useful natural knowledge, revised and brought to the present height of science - Leeuwarden, G T N Suringar, 1852 - (LV) (XXXII) 301; (VIII) 500; (XVI) 609; (XVI) 458; (VIII) 479 pp - green half-leather bindings.
Good. There are light scratches and dents, some discoloration on the flat surfaces (along the leather). The inner pages have discolored, with some spots/foxing here and there — more pronounced on the first and last six pages of the sections. Only a slight bump.
Contains 5 title vignettes with portraits of Christiaan Huygens, Leopold von Buch, Cuvier, Linnaeus, Newton, and Humboldt; 30 plates (12 with wood engravings and 18 lithographs) — all depicted, along with dozens of illustrations within the text.
Observations of the starry sky and physical description of our Earth
Reflections on the air and the atmosphere
Natural history of the animal kingdom
Natural history of the plant kingdom
Reflections on the Delftstoffen and the history of the Earth.
Photos taken at dusk, so some are slightly out of focus.
Sent via registered mail.
