Hermès Square Scarf "The Geographer"

This square is named after the corvette commanded by Nicolas Baudin and sent by Bonaparte, the first consul, to explore the southern lands of Captain Cook. At the four corners of the square are represented Charles Alexandre Lesueur, a painter of the expedition; Matthew Flinders, an English captain who encountered the mission; François Péron, a zoologist; and Nicolas Baudin himself, who died in 1803 during the return.

Rare and sought after by collectors.

Published in 1992, reissued in 1995.
