Description from the seller
Ceramic Raku centerpiece, made in Emilio Alberti's workshop (Signed).
Raku ceramics is a Japanese firing technique with origins linked to the tea ceremony and Zen philosophy.
The term 'Raku' means 'joy,' 'pleasure,' or 'joy of living.' The Raku technique is distinguished by its essential and natural aesthetic, characterized by unique and unpredictable effects such as craquelé (small cracks in the glaze), metallic lusters, and contrasts between glossy and matte surfaces.
These effects are the result of a rapid cooking process followed by removing the glowing piece from the oven and cooling it in a reducing environment, often with sawdust or dried leaves. The Raku technique was developed in the 16th century by Tanaka Chojiro, and the name Raku became the hallmark of a dynasty of ceramists still active in Japan.
Excellent condition, as shown in the photographs.
Dimensions: 31x31 cm - Height 6 cm
