Description from the seller
For those who want to get to know the 'ordinary Fleming' better, this is an excellent opportunity. Walter van den Broeck, who passed away earlier this year, depicted his compatriots in his work in a simple and often humorous way. Both in his novels and on the stage. Because Van den Broeck was both a novelist and a playwright. In his capacity as a playwright, he also gained more recognition with his play 'Groenten uit Balen,' inspired by a real strike and its consequences in the Kempen municipality of Balen. Ten years later (also in this lot), he wrote a sequel to that play.
He debuted in 1967 as a novelist with The Heir, quickly followed by Long Weekend. Both are also included in this lot.
