For sale: a fully authentic British No.9 Dial Sight MK1, complete with the original metal transport case in field green paint. This optical sighting instrument was used during the Second World War by British and Commonwealth artillery units for precise targeting of cannons and mortars.

This type of sight was an essential component of the fire control equipment of, among others:
• The 25-pounder howitzer (the standard British artillery piece in WWII)
various mortar systems
• Field and mechanized artillery of the British Army and the Royal Artillery.

With this instrument, direction (azimuth), elevation, and corrections were set, allowing artillery batteries to perform indirect fire very precisely — even without direct line of sight to the target.
