Description from the seller
Hospices de Beaune – Beaune Premier Cru “Cuvée Maurice Drouhin” 2019
For sale: a prestigious bottle of Hospices de Beaune Beaune Premier Cru “Cuvée Maurice Drouhin” 2019, vinified and bottled by the renowned Maison Joseph Drouhin. This wine is in excellent collectible condition. The fill level is at the Neck, indicating optimal preservation. The label is excellent, clean and fully intact with no stains or wear. The capsule is in excellent condition as well, with no corrosion, dents, or damage. Bottle size: 750ml. Bottling: Estate bottled for Hospices de Beaune in partnership with Maison Joseph Drouhin.
The 2019 vintage has been highly appreciated by critics, though not yet officially assigned a specific Robert Parker score for this exact cuvée; wines of similar profile and origin generally perform solidly in the high-quality range within the Côte de Beaune Premier Cru category. The wine expresses the finesse and richness of Beaune’s best terroirs, sourced from top Premier Cru parcels including Grèves, Boucherottes, Avaux and Champimonts, creating an elegant expression of Pinot Noir with balance, purity of fruit and refined structure.
The history behind this bottle is remarkable: Hospices de Beaune, founded in 1443 as a charitable hospital, has over centuries assembled some of Burgundy’s most prized vineyards through generous donations. Each year, the wines are auctioned during the world-famous Vente des Vins charity sale, making every cuvée part of a legacy that combines excellence in viticulture with humanitarian heritage. The vinification by Joseph Drouhin, a respected Burgundian family estate founded in 1880, ensures precision, tradition and longevity.
This 2019 vintage is still youthful and offers excellent ageing potential. It can certainly be enjoyed today for its vibrant red fruit, floral notes and fresh minerality, but it is best kept for further maturation — with an ideal drinking window from 2026 through the early 2030s, when it will fully develop complexity and silky texture.
Shipping is available throughout the European Union only, using certified, shock-proof packaging designed specifically for fine wine transport. No shipping outside the EU.
Louis Latour Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru “Les Chaillots” 1999
• Parker Points: 91
• Fill level: Neck — indicating excellent preservation and minimal ullage, an important factor for older Burgundies.
• Label condition: Excellent — label clean, intact, free from stains, tears, writing or discoloration.
• Capsule condition: Excellent — foil and capsule fully intact, no signs of corrosion, damage or leakage.
• Bottle size: 750 ml (standard)
• Bottler: Estate bottled — produced and bottled by Maison Louis Latour, the historic Burgundian négociant-éleveur.
• History of the wine / estate:
• Maison Louis Latour was founded in 1797 and remains family-owned, making it one of the oldest and most respected producers in Burgundy.
• The vineyard “Les Chaillots” lies in the commune of Aloxe-Corton, a Premier Cru site known for soils rich in limestone, alluvial sand and gravel (“pebbly, stony soil” — cailloux in French), giving wines a balance of power and elegance typical of the Corton terroir.
• The 1999 vinification: open-vat fermentation followed by 10–12 months aging in French oak barrels (about 35 % new oak) from Latour’s own cooperage.
• Tasting notes for this cuvée traditionally highlight aromas of black cherries, blackcurrants, forest floor/mushrooms, leather, spice and touch of oak; on the palate, a refined yet powerful fruit intensity, firm tannins, good structure and a long elegant finish.
• Drink or keep / Ageing potential: This 1999 “Les Chaillots” is drinkable now and should offer charm and complexity in its mature phase. Given the solidity of the vintage, the pedigree of the vineyard, and the quality of the producer, it also remains suitable for additional ageing for several more years — ideal drinking window possibly until 2030–2035, with progressive softening and depth of tertiary aromas.
• Shipping method: Available for shipping throughout the European Union only. No shipments outside the EU.
