Charming collection comprising 17 French love songs, mostly from the 17th and 18th centuries, and adorned with 32 beautiful color illustrations by Pierre Brissaud (1885-1964).
Kept in its original carton, covered with blue and pink endpaper, with a large illustrated title vignette glued to the front cover, and a second glued to the back cover.
Premier case cracked (but remains solid). Interior cool and clean, free of rust. In very good condition, a beautiful specimen.

Pierre Brissaud, born on December 23, 1885, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, the city where he died on October 17, 1964, at his home in the 1st arrondissement, was a French painter and fashion illustrator. He was part of the Cercle des Mortigny, founded by Dimitri d'Osnobichine in 1908, which brought together many artists and regulars of Parisian life. A distinguished illustrator, Édouard Chimot called upon his talents for the Maison Devambez in the 1920s.
