Description from the seller
Fine small terrine by Rosenthal, made in Selb, Bavaria, around 1929. This elegant piece belongs to decor 527, which is distinguished by its clear shape and luxurious execution. The porcelain is white, appearing slightly ivory-colored in the photos, and features a black flag with a delicate, gilded scroll border. The warm, glossy gold finish on the handles and lid knob emphasizes the classic elegance of the design, reflecting the transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco.
On the underside, there is no stamped Rosenthal mark, but rather a handwritten factory number, which was common at Rosenthal in the late 1920s. This combination of numbers was used for internal identification of shape and decor and was often used instead of a stamp on larger service and special pieces. The terrine thus exhibits all the characteristics of original Rosenthal production from Selb and can be clearly attributed to this period.
The piece is in very good, well-maintained condition with only minor signs of age-related wear. The glaze is of beautiful clarity, the hand-gilding is evenly preserved, and the overall impression is highly presentable.
This terrine is part of a larger Rosenthal lot offered in multiple batches. Buyers purchasing several lots benefit from combined shipping, significantly reducing shipping costs. It is a stylish collector's and functional piece from the golden age of Bavarian porcelain art, distinguished by its fine craftsmanship and classic appeal.
Please refer to the photos for the measurements.
The goods are wrapped in padding foil and enclosed in bio-foam within a double-walled carton, shipped via DHL and insured.
