Album from the 19th century, consisting of 83 lithographic plates from 'L'Artiste,' a French illustrated weekly magazine published from 1831 to 1904, renowned for its engravings and high-quality contributors.
Very beautiful lithographs after G. Laviron, Deroy, P. Huet, Godefroy, Louis Leroy, Ferogio, Decamps ... illustrating city and regional views (Venice, Pyrenees, Dauphiné...), rural scenes, fictional scenes (Don Quixote), caricatures....
Bound in half-chagrin, with an ornate spine, title, broad cold-stamped borders, and fine gilded lines. Spine worn, some rubbing, a loose plate, scattered foxing; fewer than ten plates show stains. Condition is fair.
