Description from the seller

New augmented edition of this important armorial of the British Empire given by Edmund Lodge (1756–1839), bound in a luxurious binding signed by Adolphe Bertrand. Executed in full crimson morocco, with a spine decorated with gold-lettered title. Borders along the edges, wide inner dentelle with the binder's name stamped at the bottom of the pastedown, all edges gilded.

It includes the history of the Scottish peerage, Irish peerage, an alphabetical list of noble family members, the archbishops and bishops of England, Ireland, and the Colonies, the barony ranked alphabetically, etc. Illustrated with numerous black and white coats of arms within the text.

Beautiful specimen, in excellent condition. Tiny scuffs on the crowns and corners. The interior is fresh and clean, well preserved despite some scattered foxing, without severity.
Text in English.
