Description from the seller
Kavel of two different advertising posters from the 1950s for the Antwerp Zoo.
1) Original poster (offset lithograph), dating from around 1950. In the early 1950s, the advertising studio Peso was commissioned to create several eye-catching posters to promote a special-rate day trip to Antwerp Zoo by train.
The design's characteristic 1950s visual language is immediately striking. It reportedly depicts the young eastern lowland gorilla "Gust," a crowd favorite at the time.
Design: Studio Publi Peso
Dimensions: 100 cm high x 62 cm wide
Condition A: light rolling marks on top, otherwise integrally intact.
Printing: N.V. 'Lithocart' Antwerp
Shipping: rolled up in a sturdy tube with track & trace.
Disclaimer: We will not ship to the USA and Canada.
2) Original advertising poster (offset lithograph), counterpart of 1), also dating from the early (19)50s. The creative people at Publi Peso are going all out for a playful approach with this 'portrait' of a young elephant seal who looks frankly and curiously into the lens.
Both posters indeed form a diptych and were displayed separately or close together in the stations. The company "Publifer" (PUBlicité FERroviaire), a subsidiary of the Belgian National Railway Company (NMBS), used a standardized poster format to fit its own display cases. The two posters were released in three language versions: Dutch, French, and English.
Shipping: rolled in a sturdy tube with Bpost track & trace or Bpost International.
Disclaimer: We do not ship to the USA and Canada.
