Andrea Imwiehe, Mangelware_09, 2014, acrylic painting with line drawing on a wooden panel, original edition, still life, signed on the back.
Description from the seller
Andrea Imwiehe masterfully combines acrylic painting with precise line drawings. Unique: the lines are cut directly into the acrylic paint, creating a subtly recessed relief. This special technique gives her images a tactile depth.
As an 'archaeologist of memory,' Imwiehe preserves the past and allows it to be reborn through her art. Her images are based on personal, concrete memories and objects of personal significance, yet she manages to transform them into something universal. Her works evoke universal feelings and awaken memories that each viewer can relate to in their own way.
The work 'Mangelware' impresses with its silent intensity and formal clarity. At first glance, it simply shows a single piece of clothing, seemingly carelessly hung on a laundry line. Yet, it is precisely in this reduction that a deep poetry lies.
The fabric is dusty pink, worn, soft in its folds, and full of history. The meticulously realistic painting style contrasts with the almost empty background space. This consists of finely nuanced, almost monochromatic beige tones that give the subject room to breathe and direct the viewer's attention to the essential: the garment itself.
The artwork at a glance:
- Image from the series 'Mangelware' – impressions of still life, memories in unique painting style.
Acrylic painting in a combination with line drawing.
Painted on a high-quality wooden panel – ready to hang immediately.
Signed on the back, numbered, and accompanied by all image information.
Shipping is carried out professionally wrapped in tissue paper and bubble wrap.
Certificate of authenticity included
