AVA Willow is a Portuguese artist born in Lisbon, currently living and working between several European cities, including London and the South of France, where she spends long creative seasons.

Her professional journey began across diverse fields — from fashion to film production — until she found her true calling in the world of contemporary art. Immersed in artistic circles and inspired by close interactions with other artists, she soon began developing her own distinctive path.

Willow’s early work explored collage, incorporating mixed media and experimental techniques such as dripping on canvas. Deeply influenced by Abstract Expressionism and Surrealism, she draws inspiration from artists like Mark Tobey, Franz Kline, Jackson Pollock, and Salvador Dalí.

Her creative process is rooted in spontaneity and emotional authenticity. She values the freedom of expression found in Surrealism — the ability to create a parallel reality guided by intuition rather than intellect. Each of her canvases emerges without preliminary study, allowing improvisation and instinct to guide every line, stroke, and color choice.

AWA Willow’s art invites viewers into a world of intensity, movement, and unrestrained imagination. Her works were most recently featured at Art Madrid 2022, where she presented a collection that reflects her evolving artistic language and the depth of her expressive vision.
